Mélodium signs the EuroStack open letter on digital sovereignty

Mélodium is a signatory of “Open Letter: European Industry Calls for Strong Commitment to Sovereign Digital Infrastructure”, addressed to European Commission President Von der Leyen and Executive Vice-President Virkkunen on 14 March 2025, alongside the other signatories backing the EuroStack Initiative.

What the letter asks for

The letter calls on the Commission to treat European digital sovereignty as an industrial policy problem, not a research grant line item: procurement rules that let public buyers actually choose European-led solutions, pooling and federating the European assets that already exist instead of starting from scratch, a certification path for sovereign cloud that meets EUCS High+ criteria, and a Sovereign Infrastructure Fund to back the capital-intensive parts of the stack.

Why Mélodium signed

Mélodium already runs on European infrastructure by default, Scaleway for compute, Clever Cloud for hosting, and is open-source under the EUPL. Signing the letter is a statement that the choice to build that way shouldn’t be the exception; it’s what the letter is actually asking the Commission to make easier for everyone building in Europe.
